Macau reports casino tax revenue decline

Macau’s casino tax revenue recorded a decline in early 2025 with the government pulling in MOP14.24 billion ($1.78 billion) in January and February.
When compared to the same period of 2024, this is a decline of 3.8%. Despite the tax revenue decline, the gaming industry is the biggest contributor to the country’s economy. For the period, the industry contributed 89.3% of Macau’s total $2 billion revenue.

Casino revenues
While tax revenue declined, casino revenue recorded an increase. Macau’s total gross gaming revenue (GGR) for January and February hit MOP38 billion ($4.7 billion), which is a slight 0.5% increase from last year.
