Macau reports gaming revenue declines for March
According to the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau of Macau, gaming revenue in the region hit MOP19.66 billion ($2.45 billion) in March, showing an 8% increase year-on-year.
However, compared to February results, the numbers show a 0.4% decline. Additionally, at the end of March, Macau also reported a casino tax revenue decline for early 2025.
The slower March results have raised concerns about whether Macau can meet its 2025 gaming revenue target of MOP240 billion ($29.9 billion), a 5.8% year-on-year growth projection. Some analysts are adjusting their expectations. U.S. investment bank Jefferies trimmed its 2025 forecast by 2%, aligning it with the government’s conservative outlook.
Meanwhile, research firm CreditSights expects Macau’s gaming sector to stabilize in 2025 after a sharp post-pandemic rebound in 2024.
