It’s been reported that Manchester United is in the process of finalizing a multi-year training kit deal worth $27 million with UK-based gambling operator Betway.

First reported by the Daily Mail, it’s believed that Betway will begin featuring its branding on the football club’s training apparel following the upcoming ban on front-of-shirt gambling ads. The Betway logo will be visible on players’ and staff’s sportswear during their training at the Carrington ground, and they will also wear branded clothes during interviews and press conferences.

The new restrictions will prohibit clubs from displaying gambling ads on the main parts of their shirts; however, sleeve ads, training kits, or stadium ads will not be affected. The training kit sponsorships are expected to be valuable for operators, as popular football clubs are generally exposed to a lot of media coverage from training sessions, pre-match footage, or behind-the-scenes shots.

Additionally, as part of its marketing strategy, Betway recently launched collaborations with other football clubs as well, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Brighton & Hove Albion.

At the same time, Betway’s deal with Manchester United may potentially push other operators to go for similar deals with football clubs, with the number of sleeve or official betting partner sponsorships set to increase.
