Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced his plans to develop an experimental app called “Arena,” which would let users predict the results of real-world events such as sports matches, elections, and political decisions.

Instead of simply sharing opinions, prediction markets allow users to make predictions about future events and are rewarded when their predictions are correct. However, unlike popular platforms such as Polymarket and Kalshi, Arena is expected to have a points-based system rather than real-money betting.

Users would earn points for making accurate predictions, creating a game-like experience. However, Meta has reportedly not ruled out adding real-money features at a later stage.

The project is still in the development phase, but it has become a priority inside the company as Meta looks for new ways to keep users engaged. With more than 3.5 billion people using its apps every day, Meta has a huge audience that could help Arena gain traction quickly.

Meta is also reportedly working on other experimental products, including an AI-focused app called Meta Photos. These projects show Zuckerberg’s strategy of Arena, moving Meta beyond traditional social media
