TheMichigan Gaming Control Board has taken strong action against Bovada, a Curaçao-based gaming business that operates illegal online gambling sites accessible to Michigan residents.

Following an inquiry, the MGCB issued a cease-and-desist letter to Harp Media, which operates Bovada, on May 29.

MGCB executive director Henry Williams said:

“The proliferation of online gaming platforms has led to increased scrutiny from regulatory bodies worldwide and this action serves as a stern warning to overseas companies that flouting local regulations will not be tolerated.”

He further stated that the MGCB is committed to maintaining Michigan’s rules and regulations and will continue to actively monitor and enforce compliance throughout the state to provide a fair and secure gaming environment for everyone.
