Michigan sent cease-and-desist letters to 6 gaming operators

The Michigan Gaming Control Board sent cease-and-desist letters to 6 gaming operators, who allegedly target players in the state without an iGaming license.

The Michigan state regulator gives Crypto Slots, NitroBetting, NewVegas, Las Vegas USA Casino, Grand Rush Casino, and Slotgard Casino 14 days to comply with the order and “immediately halt all operations” that involve Michigan-based users/ Compliance failure will result in potential legal action.

Henry Williams, Executive Director at Michigan Gaming Control Board, shared in a statement:

“These sites were attempting to exploit Michigan players while operating outside the law. We take this seriously. When unauthorised operators offer games without regulation, Michigan players are left exposed—and we will not tolerate it.”

The 6 operators offered casino-style games and sports betting features, attempting to target Michigan residents without state authorization.  The violations fall under multiple state laws, including the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Lawful Sports Betting Act, and provisions of the Michigan Penal Code.

Williams added:

“Unlike Michigan’s licensed operators, these sites offer no consumer safeguards. They’re not held accountable to anyone, and that puts players in a dangerous position.”

Michigan players who use these sites risk winning money with no guaranteed payout, playing unfair or rigged games, and have no legal protection in cases of fraud, data theft, or account disputes.

Many US state regulators began to send cease-and-desist letters more frequently in the past 2 years and the Michigan Gaming Control Board is one of them.
