Nevada Senate targets illegal gambling with new bill

Nevada targets illegal gambling with Senate Bill 256, aimed at getting rid of illegal foreign operators.
Introduced by Senator Rochelle Nguyen, SB256 proposes tougher penalties for out-of-state operators. Right now, they only face a mild charge if they accept bets from someone in Nevada. But under the new bill, sportsbooks may even face jail time to one year and a fine of $2,000.
Moreover, the bill also targets sweepstakes casinos, prediction markets, and other black market platforms. The Nevada Gaming Control Board has already gone after companies like Kalshi and Playgon for operating without licenses, and even Bovada pulled out of the state due to pressure.
This bill is a bold step to make sure gambling laws are taken seriously, no matter where the operator is based. The bill is now heading to the House for further review.
