New operators apply for license after Brazil’s warning
Six new operators have applied for a license to operate in Brazil after the country’s strict warning.
On September 18, Brazil’s Ministry of Finance announced that the country would ban unlicensed operations starting October 1. This was not the first announcement of this type. Earlier this year, in May, the Ministry set a deadline for all unlicensed online casinos to apply for a license by the end of 2024 and has recently closed its initial application window for casino licenses, with 113 businesses applying.
After the warning, the following six brands have also applied for a license.
- Amplexus Corporation
- BRX Gaming
- Boa Sorte Prêmios
- JBD Comunicação e Tecnologia
- Nexus International
- Wudy Pay Correspondente de Instituição Financeira
While this doesn’t guarantee that the brands will be able to hit the market immediately once regulated betting launches, they can now continue to operate as usual until the end of the year.
All those companies that will not apply by October 1 will need to stop their operations. And if not, they will face legal consequences. Licensed operators will also need to pay a nearly $5.5 million fee.
Recently, Brazil has also banned credit card betting in the country. All these steps are being taken to protect the country’s economy and population from the risks of gambling losses.
