New York opens first casino with live tables in Queens
New York City officially opened its first casino with live tables on April 28, 2026, with Resorts World’s full-scale project rolling out its first phase of the $5.5 billion renovations.
The venue will offer 240 live dealer games, like blackjack, craps, roulette, and baccarat, and an additional 2,500 slots, as the company is looking to increase the number of slot machines and tables during the year. Resorts World has also announced plans to create a 7,000-seat entertainment venue, a new hotel, and multiple restaurants.
Robert DeSalvio, the president of Genting Americas East, commented:
“Live table gaming is officially open in New York City for the first time ever, and on day one, we are contributing to the state’s economy, supporting jobs, and giving back to New Yorkers. With our planned $5.5 billion expansion, this is only the beginning of something much bigger for Resorts World and for New York.”
The casino’s chief strategy officer, Kevin Jones, stressed that the project is historic because it’s going to be the world’s biggest casino, as they are changing New York with a venue that will never close.
Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato added:
“I like to gamble. A great steakhouse with parking, here? I like to have a drink. Live music? A great cold drink right here? This is a game-changer, locally. We are the borough to be in now! We are the destination.”
The construction works will be completed by 2031, with the final goal of operating 6,000 slots and 800 tables, which would be the highest number of such services in a single location in the U.S.
