Norway targets gaming and crypto unethical practices
Norway, the only Scandinavian country with a state-controlled gambling monopoly, has introduced its new regulation of targeting unethical practices in gaming and crypto markets.
Norway is focused on safety and player protection. The new regulation, led by the Council on Ethics, aims to change the Norway gaming market and make it shortlisted for the competition. Monitoring almost 8,700 firms and owning 1.5% of all listed shares, the plan will make 2025 much tighter.
This is not a surprise, as earlier this year, Norway announced that starting in 2025, the country will tighten gambling regulations by limiting losses.
Norway’s gambling market
Currently, Norway’s gambling market is monopolised by Norsk Tipping and Norsk Rikstoto, which lead the lottery and betting markets. However, very soon, the country expects to revolutionise the gambling market, as by 2028, strong player protection and black market activity bans will be integrated into the country’s regulatory system.
