PGCB fined Betfair Interactive and Sugarhouse HSP Gaming
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) approved 2 consent agreements presented by its Office of Enforcement Counsel (OEC), resulting in total fines of $70,000 to Betfair and Sugarhouse HSP Gaming.
Betfair Interactive was fined $40,000 for its failure to license several employees, and Sugarhouse HSP Gaming, operator of Rivers Philadelphia Casino, a $30,000 for 2 instances of allowing persons under the legal gaming age of 21 to access the gaming floor and gamble.
In addition, on July 23, PGCB took action to place 7 individuals on its various Involuntary Exclusion Lists. Placing someone on an Involuntary Exclusion List prohibits individuals from gambling in a casino in Pennsylvania, including both online betting sites regulated by PGCB and Video Gaming Terminals (VGT). These matters, presented by the PGCB’s Office of Chief Counsel and Office of Enforcement Counsel, raise the number of individuals now on the PGCB’s various Involuntary Exclusion Lists to 1,411.
The actions on July 23 include placing 5 individuals on the Involuntary Casino Exclusion List. One of the individuals was a female patron who left 2 minors (aged 8 and 9) in a hotel room at Hollywood Casino at the Meadows for 7 hours and 41 minutes to gamble at table games. According to the law, adults are forbidden from leaving minors unattended in the parking lot or garage, a hotel, or other venues at a casino, since it creates a potentially unsafe and dangerous environment for the children.
Additionally, 2 individuals were placed on the Involuntary Interactive Gaming Exclusion list for fraudulent actions involving online gambling.
