PlaySafe Alliance forms to fight illegal iGaming in the Philippines
Eighteen licensed iGaming companies have joined forces to form the PlaySafe Alliance of the Philippines, aimed at creating a safer and more responsible online gambling environment for the country while fighting illegal gambling practices.
The PlaySafe Alliance will work hard to promote responsible gaming, protect players, and work against unlicensed operators, who currently control most of the country’s online gambling market. They will also closely cooperate with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) to improve oversight, especially in advertising and marketing.
Some of the key members of this group include DigiPlus, World Platinum Technologies, Trojans Well Entertainment, and several others.
The alliance’s spokesperson, Mike Defensor, said:
“The real enemy when it comes to online gambling is the illegal market. No license, no regulation. Minors can play, no taxes are paid, and rules are not followed. Instead of being protected, the public is put at risk.”
Player identity checks
The group will introduce stronger measures to verify players’ identities, prevent underage gambling, and encourage self-exclusion for those who need it. They will also set up a panel of experts to guide their work and run programs for education, prevention, and treatment related to gambling issues with a 24/7 National Gambling Helpline to support people who need help.
