Polymarket faces KSA fine after missing ban deadline
Polymarket’s Adventure One QSS operator has received a fine from the Dutch Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) after missing its ban deadline and remaining active in the country one day after the set February 17, 2026, date.
The prediction market had until February 17 to stop its operations, as the regulatory body had warned that it would be hit with a weekly fine of €420,000 in case of non-compliance. Additionally, the maximum penalty could reach €840,000.
After identifying that the platform was still accessible for local users, the KSA issued a collection decree on May 19, 2026, to officially impose the fine, which is expected to be paid in 6 weeks.
The Kansspelautoriteit wrote in its statement:
“The Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) imposes a penalty payment order on Adventure One QSS Inc. for an illegal gambling offering. Adventure One offers gambling on the Dutch market under the brand name Polymarket without possessing the proper license to do so. The Dutch Gaming Authority determines that Adventure One QSS Inc. has violated the imposed order and that a penalty payment of €420,000 has been forfeited by operation of law. The Dutch Gaming Authority proceeds with collection.”
Polymarket has responded, arguing that it had complied with the order and implemented the website block on the set date, stating that the platform’s accessibility on February 18 could have been the result of some technical factors, not the operator’s negligence.
