In Q3 2024, iGaming revenue in Portugal reached €266.3m, 23.7% higher than Q3 2023.
The online casino market was the primary driver of growth for iGaming, recording an all-time high of €175.1 million in revenue, which is an increase of 31.2%. Spending on online casino games hit €4.87 billion, an increase of 33.7%. Slots continued to dominate, with 80.4% of wagers.

Sports betting revenue declined by 11.7% from Q2 2024, totaling €91.2 million. Spending on sports betting grew 23.8% year-on-year, reaching €483.4 million, with football remaining the most popular sport, attracting 72.7% of all bets.

Player engagement also grew, with 4.5 million people gambling online, a 16.9% increase from Q3 2023. There were 269,800 new registrations, and the 25-34 age group remained the most active demographic. The number of self-excluded players rose significantly, with 276,200 consumers excluded by the end of Q3.

Land-based gaming recorded a gross revenue of €75.9 million, marking a 19.1% increase from Q2 2024. Physical slot machines remained the top revenue source, although revenue from casino-style games, particularly American roulette, also rose.
