Pragmatic Play to close sports betting & bingo operations
Pragmatic Play has announced that it’s going to shut down its sports betting, bingo, and virtual sports operations after an internal review of company performance, with plans to focus on the iGaming and slots sectors.
The closure is set to happen in a gradual phase-out during the coming months, with the company continuing to offer its services in order to give partners enough time to smoothly transition and find other solutions.
Pragmatic Play has been offering sports betting for the last 4 years, but the company has traditionally been focused on online casino technology and products, which are still its biggest growth drivers. Company representatives shared that more investments are expected to be allocated to crash games and RNG-based content.
A spokesperson from Pragmatic Play commented:
“Following a strategic review, the decision has been made to focus on our core market-leading verticals – in particular, slots, live casino, crash, and RNG. These areas continue to demonstrate strong performance and represent the company’s primary long-term strategic focus. As a result, Pragmatic Play will no longer offer bingo and sportsbook products (including virtual sports). We are working closely with partners to support their smooth transition to alternative platforms.”
Currently, Pragmatic Play has partnership deals with major operators like Betsson, Entertain, bet365, Flutter Entertainment, and William Hill.
