ReferOn adds Personal Access Tokens for API authentication

ReferOn has introduced Personal Access Tokens (PATs) to simplify how operators, affiliates, and technical teams connect to the platform’s API.

Instead of dealing with long, complicated authentication steps, users can now generate a token directly in their ReferOn profile and start using the API straight away.

What are Personal Access Tokens?

A Personal Access Token is a secure, automatically created key that gives direct access to the ReferOn API, without legacy authentication or multi-step setup.

PATs make API integrations:

  • Faster: A single token is generated in seconds
  • Simpler: No multi-step authentication flows, just straightforward API access.
  • Safer: User-level control, including configurable expiration and instant access revocation.

All ReferOn API endpoints are available under a single domain, making integrations simpler, more reliable, and easier to scale for affiliate operations.

Modern affiliate programs handle much more data, a larger number of partners and more daily processes than in the past. The increasing demands for reporting, payments, and tracking made it so that even small manual actions in integrations can turn into hurdles. PATs remove unnecessary friction from API authentication, allowing teams to integrate faster and move away from outdated, multi-step workflows.

With PATs, teams can:

  • Automate daily, repetitive tasks to reduce workload
  • Sync data across departments and workflows instantly
  • Reduce time spent on technical implementation and setup

Vlad Bondarenko, Head of Product, said in a statement:

“Every feature we ship follows the same core principle: remove friction and give teams more control. PATs do exactly that by replacing the old authentication flow with a single, predictable token, making automation easier and helping affiliate programs scale without extra operational load.”

PATs play an important role, but they’re only one element of a broader system. ReferOn is built for teams that want clearer data, smoother operations, and a platform that takes care of the complexity behind the scenes. It’s designed to help affiliate networks grow without adding unnecessary layers or complications.
