The Spelinspektionen has recently issued a fine of 7.7 million dollars (79 million krona) to Bet365 for responsible gambling shortcomings.

The Swedish regulator has recently announced one of its latest enforcement actions, which involved a hefty fine for both the gambling and sports wagering sides of Bet365’s business. The authority has issued the penalty for a few of the operator’s shortcomings in the area of responsible gambling.

The Spelinspektionen stated that the company did not do an adequate job of protecting its players, failing to help them reduce their spending on the pastime. According to the regulator, the operator allowed its users to play with no deposit limits of any kind.

The authority added that Bet365 failed to assist users exhibiting signs of gambling problems and did not proactively try to counter such issues. The Spelinspektionen also mentioned that it took too long for the operator to respond in cases where it did reach out to problematic players.

Moreover, the Spelinspektionen noted that the operator did not have adequate measures implemented for tackling gambling problems in vulnerable players, such as those who had previously registered with the country’s self-exclusion scheme and younger users below the age of 24.

Out of the total 79 million krona fine, the operator’s wagering division took the majority of the penalty at 65 million Krona, while the gambling side of the business was fined 14 million krona.
