Spillemyndigheden restricts 49 illegal gambling websites

In a recent report, Spillemyndigheden announced that it has recently blocked almost 50 illegal gambling websites.

Back in mid-July, the regulatory authority’s 49 cases against illegal offshore casinos were ruled in its favor, resulting in the restriction of the violating gambling websites that were offering their services in the country without the required licenses from Spillemyndigheden. This latest announcement has expanded the list of blocked gambling websites in Denmark significantly, which now contains 276 unauthorized businesses.

The regulator mentioned in its announcement that the majority of the violating websites were traditional casinos that offered their players popular games like poker, slots, and various others. Spillemyndigheden also mentioned that 13 of the blocked websites were skin gambling sites that utilize in-game items from various popular eSports titles to facilitate gambling, replacing traditional currencies and crypto.

Lastly, Spillemyndigheden added that for the first time since its founding, it is expected to begin blocking illegal gambling websites two times per year, upping the frequency from once per year. This move is going to be a part of Spillemyndigheden’s optimization efforts as it aims to not let illegal businesses operate in the country and potentially cause harm to local gambling enthusiasts for as long.
