Spribe and Flutter’s Adjarabet to pay $330m to Aviator LLC
Aviator LLC won the legal battle against Spribe and Flutter-owned Adjarabet for its copyright case.
Aviator LLC is the owner of several trademark registrations for the “Aviator” graphic logo, which is used both for online and land-based casino services. The Aviator brand is famous in the iGaming industry, mostly through the popular cash game developed by iGaming developer Spribe, which has used both the image and brand name “Aviator” since 2019.
In the same year, a Flutter-owned company, Adjarabet, purchased the game on its famous platform Adjarabet.com in Georgia, later featuring the “Aviator” logo on its platform. Later, in 2021-2022, Spribe registered its own “Aviator” trademarks for computer games and gambling services. During 2023, it generated almost $7.5 million in revenue with Adjarabet.com in Georgia.
Aciator LLC argued that Spribe harms Aviator LLC’s existing trademarks and filed a lawsuit against Spribe.
The court ruled in favor of Aviator LLC and awarded the company $330 million in compensation.
Aviator’s attorney Nikoloz Gogilidze commented on the court’s decision:
“We are pleased with the outcome of the court’s ruling on this claim, and we will continue to aggressively protect our client’s intellectual property from unlicensed use on any international gaming platforms.”
The court’s rule highlights the importance of protecting intellectual property in the gaming industry.
