Steve Birch to leave Flutter by the end of December 2025
On December 17, 2025, former Sky Betting and Gaming (SBG) CEO Steve Birch confirmed he would be stepping down from his position at Flutter Entertainment by the end of December 2025.
Birch joined SBG in 2007 as a marketing analyst. After SBG became part of the Stars Group in 2018, he was later appointed as CEO of the company in 2020. The Stars Group then merged with Flutter Entertainment in 2020, and in 2022, Birch took the role of CCO, overseeing Sky-branded products for Flutter.
His departure marks the end of an 18-year career in both Sky Betting and Gaming and Flutter. In his statement, Birch shared that he plans to take some time away from the industry before taking on a new role.
He addressed his time at Flutter and highlighted the scale of the organization and the senior leadership support he received during his working years.
Birch’s departure comes along with the consolidation of Flutter’s UK and Ireland operations and cuts in senior commercial roles. The job cuts are part of a cost and efficiency program for simplifying the company’s operations.
The announcement of Birch’s exit was followed by news of the appointment of Ben Reilly as CCO for Flutter.
