The world starts here: The MongolZ campaign for Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar can be seen in full from the building’s rooftop helipad. Yurt districts give way to high-rise towers, and the steppe begins where the city ends.

The world starts here: The MongolZ campaign for Mongolia

This is the setting The MongolZ chose for their new campaign video, which presents Mongolia to an international audience. The video is being broadcast on Mongolian television, screened in cinemas and displayed on the country’s main billboards. Its central message is that one’s roots stay with them, whatever the arena or the country they wake up in.

The MongolZ spend much of the year traveling to tournaments, moving between airports and hotels. The team regards each appearance as a chance to introduce Mongolia to audiences who may not have heard of it.

The MongolZ described the initiative as follows:

  1. What does remembering your roots mean to you personally?

It’s the simple things. How the table is set at home when guests come over. The language we speak to each other at training camp when everyone around us is speaking English. When we hear Mongolian on other continents, we immediately turn around. Remembering our roots isn’t something we consciously do, but that feeling is with us in every match.

  1. Do you feel that The MongolZ’s success has made you a voice for Mongolia around the world?

We feel a sense of responsibility. The whole country, our international partners, and our friends support us. With that comes the realization that the whole world is watching. We didn’t choose to become the voice of our country, but if that’s how things have turned out, we want to represent it with dignity.

  1. How does the world see Mongolia today through The MongolZ?

Modern and dynamic. Many people still picture the steppe, horses, and yurts. That’s all part of Mongolia, and we’re proud of it. But we also have big cities where life moves fast and young people who compete at the highest level. We want the world to see both sides of modern Mongolia.

  1. Why was it important for you to reflect on your roots now?

We’re on the road almost all the time: tournaments, flights, more tournaments. We wanted to pause, return home, and show the world where we grew up. It was a way to remind ourselves and our fans where it all began.

  1. Has your sense of home changed recently?

Yes. Home used to be a specific place: our houses, yards, cities. Now, we’re traveling almost all year, and for us, home is wherever our team is. After long trips, you appreciate coming back even more.

  1. Is there anything uniquely Mongolian about the team’s character that drives The MongolZ forward?

Resilience. We’re used to a harsh climate and vast distances, so we know how to wait patiently and not give up when things get tough.

  1. What do you think The MongolZ mean to the younger generation of Mongolians?

We want The MongolZ to be proof that anyone can step onto the world stage while staying true to themselves. If young people are inspired by us and start believing in their dreams, then we’re doing something right.

  1. The campaign is called “THE WORLD STARTS HERE”. Where does the world start for you?

In Mongolia. This is where we first played, where our earliest fans supported us, and where we set off for our first tournament. Everything that followed took root here. That’s why, for us, the world starts here, at home.
