UK reports record engagement during Safer Gambling Week

According to the UK’s Betting and Gaming Council, Safer Gambling Week 2024, held from November 18 to 24, recorded new success with 7.2 million safer gambling messages delivered to players, up 10% from last year.
What is more impressive is the active usage of responsible gambling tools during the week, marking a 22% increase from 2023.
The push for responsible betting went beyond just messages. Nearly half of the players who set deposit limits during the week were doing so for the first time—proof that the initiative is reaching new audiences. Social media also played a big role, helping the campaign hit over 60 million impressions across platforms like X, Facebook, and Instagram.
Safer Gambling Week received support from all sides
Not only was public engagement at the top. Government ministers, major football clubs like Tottenham, Aston Villa, and Southampton, and even the Gambling Commission helped spread the word and encourage people to take control of their gambling habits.
However, despite the support, the NHS reports that almost 0.4% of adults suffer from harmful gambling habits. So while Safer Gambling Week is gaining momentum, it’s clear that the UK still needs to monitor the market.
