UKGC hits Stakelogic with $161K penalty over slots speed
The UK Gambling Commission has hit Stakelogic with a $161,725 fine after revealing that the gambling software provider had violated responsible product design rules and offered slot games at a faster speed than allowed.
The investigation was first launched after Stakelogic reported that its own game operated with 1.97 seconds between spins, and as a result of a further UKGC investigation, 15 more games were identified to have breached time gap rules.
The UKGC shared on June 25, 2026, that it had found that the provider’s slot games ran faster than the required 2.5-second minimum time gap between spins. The timeline of all the breaches extended from October 2021 to May 2025.
The UKGC’s Director of Enforcement and Intelligence, John Pierce, stated:
“With all the technological resources available to an online gambling business, it is unacceptable that Stakelogic were relying on a manual stopwatch to measure the speed of their games. We would urge all operators to take careful note of this case and ensure they have effective testing practices in place to ensure they are meeting all the standards we require.”
Some of the identified games ran at 0.042 seconds or below the required speed established by the UKGC’s Remote Technical Standards.
Yves Herveille, Stakelogic’s Director of Legal and Compliance Affairs, shared with iGaming Expert:
“The Gambling Commission’s public statement sets out the agreed resolution of this matter. In line with our compliance approach, Stakelogic reported the matter to the Gambling Commission and, as part of the steps taken while the matter was being addressed, decided to proactively disable all Great Britain-facing games.”
In addition to the penalty, Stakelogic has also agreed to the publication of a statement of facts for the case and to paying for the UKGC’s costs of investigating the breaches.
