UKGC schedules gambling policy review deadlines in April

The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has set a deadline for closing its consultation on the Destination of Regulatory Settlements on April 2, 2026, as well as noted progress in the evaluation process of the Gambling Act Review (GAR).

Regarding the first deadline, the consultation is part of the adjustments introduced after the addition of the statutory levy, which was proposed in April 2025 in the Gambling Review’s White Paper, “High Stakes: Gambling Reform for the Digital Age”.

The change from GambleAware to a statutory levy system introduced stricter supervision, coordination, and review of fund allocation. The UKGC has also proposed to reassess the Statement Principles for Determining Financial Penalties to make sure that regulatory settlements and financial penalties align.

It’s suggested that regulatory settlements be paid into the Consolidated Fund directly, as this will ensure consistency, speed, and better government supervision.

The second deadline is connected to the evaluation of the Gambling Act Review (GAR), which is being conducted by the National Centre for Social Research. Financial vulnerability checks, online slots stake limits, and incentives for social responsibility are the main points under review. The consultation is set to close on April 10, 2026, so operators have until then to participate in an online survey to give feedback on the GAR reforms.
