Authorities announced the case on September 26, 202, with the investigation having started when police received a complaint from a resident of Tien Tien Commune, who said he opened a Net.win account in early 2025 to play “tai xiu” dice games. Players sent money to bank accounts given by the site, and the deposits turned into points at a rate of VND1,000 for 1,000 points, while winnings could be cashed out the same way. This player alone made 165 deposits worth nearly VND2 billion into 13 accounts.
Those 13 accounts sat at different banks, and investigators say the operators paid other people monthly fees to open accounts in their own names, and those account holders completed facial scans and other biometric checks whenever a transfer needed approval.
By reviewing player transactions of at least VND5 million, police identified 16 people who gambled on the site, revealing that some lost anywhere from a few million to hundreds of millions of dong.
Currently, the investigation is still in process, as police are working to find out who ran the network, how it worked, and how the money moved, further urging citizens to avoid any online gambling platforms.
