William Hill to launch mobile sportsbook

Bookmaker William Hill will be launching a mobile sportsbook in the USA. The sportsbook will launch in capital Washington DC.

William Hill’s sportsbooks are generally available online statewide, but in DC this sportsbook will be available only within a two-block radius of the Capital One Arena, which is also home to the bookmaker’s retail sportsbook.

Currently, the arena is under construction, hence why wagers will be able to locate a temporary unit there for now until the permanent one is fully constructed.

The opening of the sportsbook was attained thanks to an agreement with the parent company who owns the stadium, Monumental Sports & Entertainment. The company owns multiple of the sporting brands within the DC area such as the Washington Wizards and Washington Mystics basketball teams and the Washington Capitals of the NHL.

Such restrictions are caused by Washington DC’s deal with the DC Lottery’s Gambet app. Powered by Intralot, this app and its operators have the exclusive rights for mobile wagering all across the rest of the city.

This latest move from William Hill indicates that they will now offer their services across eight of the states, and this number will surely see an increase in the future. With Caesars Entertainment completing their deal to acquire William Hill, it is possible that we will see the sportsbook and betting brand pop up in a lot of other places across the US in the future.
