Wynn confirms Al Marjan Island opening in September 2027

Wynn Resorts has confirmed the opening date of the Wynn Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah, pushing back the launch to September 2027, as opposed to the initially announced March 2027 opening.

The change in the opening date was mostly the result of the ongoing Middle East conflict, which forced the company to stop construction work in February 2026. Additionally, the regional instability caused Wynn to raise construction costs by a further $600 million.

CEO of Wynn Resorts, Craig Billings, commented:

“We are now actively progressing through the interior fit-out of the hotel rooms with mechanical, electrical and finishing work all moving along in sequence. In addition to construction, pre-opening hiring and operations planning are advancing very well. I traveled to the UAE in June and saw the progress first-hand: the site, the team, and the surrounding market.”

The company also revealed that it had spent $48.1 million during the second quarter of 2026 on the $5.1-billion-worth project, where Wynn holds a 40% stake. Al Marjan Island is expected to have over 1,500 hotel rooms, entertainment venues, and a locally licensed gaming facility.

For context, in October 2024 Wynn became the first company to receive a land-based gaming license in the United Arab Emirates from the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), and it’s currently still the only firm that holds a license in that category.
