Wynn Resorts won the UAE’s first commercial gaming license

The General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) of the United Arab Emirates issued Wynn Resorts the first commercial land-based casino gaming license.
Wynn Al Marjan Island is the UAE project of the Wynn Resorts. It takes only 15 minutes from Ras Al Khaimah International Airport and 45 minutes from the Dubai International Airport to reach there.
The company announced its UAE project in 2022. Being almost 65 miles away from Dubai, this new destination will offer much more than just a place to stay. The project will feature a vibrant gaming floor, over 1,000 luxurious hotel rooms, convention spaces, and a variety of shops and restaurants to explore.
Back in September, it was already predicted that Wynn’s UAE project has the potential to legalize casino gaming in the country. And now, on October 4, Wynn Resorts won the first commercial land-based casino gaming license in the UAE.
Wynn Resorts commented:
“We are under way with the construction of our resort in Ras Al Khaimah and look forward to being a key partner in the development of its tourism economy.”
Al Marjan Island is being developed by Marjan, the organization tasked with transforming Ras Al Khaimah, the UAE’s northernmost emirate, into a thriving hub for tourism and investment.
Marjan chief executive Abdulla Al Abdooli said:
“We are partnering with Wynn Resorts, one of the world’s most renowned integrated resort companies, which has a strong track record of developing luxury destinations with exceptional accommodation, dining, entertainment concepts, and gaming facilities. By leveraging Wynn Resorts’ expertise in developing luxury hospitality destinations, the new development will raise the benchmark in luxury hospitality in the region. It will also create exceptional value to the Ras Al Khaimah economy and boost the leisure, business and MICE tourism sectors.”
Wynn Resorts’ UAE project is expected to open its doors in 2027.
