Gowran Park is in County Kilkenny, a 15-minute drive from Kilkenny City. The racecourse opened on June 16, 1914, and because of its prize-money levels it has held Grade 1 status for National Hunt racing since 2006. It runs both Flat and National Hunt meetings, and in January it stages The Goffs Thyestes Chase, which has a €100,000 prize pool. Its modern grandstand complex opened in 2003 after a €3.5 million redevelopment.
12-month partnership with Gowran Park
The October meeting is one part of a 12-month partnership between 1xBet Ireland and Gowran Park. Under the deal, 1xBet.ie sponsors 15 races across Flat and National Hunt racing and supports the racecourse all year.

The agreement adds to 1xBet Ireland’s existing sponsorships with Punchestown and The Curragh and is part of the brand’s wider commitment to Irish racing.
Race features
The 1xBet.ie Supports Safer Gambling is the third race on the card at a National Hunt meeting. It is a handicap hurdle over 2 miles and 80 yards, open to horses aged three and over. In a handicap, each horse carries a weight set by its rating, so the stronger runners carry more to level the playing field.
The prize fund is €12,000, split among the first six finishers: €7,200 for the winner, €2,400 for second, €1,200 for third, €600 for fourth, €360 for fifth and €240 for sixth. The field hasn’t been announced yet, and the favourites will be known closer to race day.
