Arizona reports $42.5M in tribal casino contributions

Arizona, a southwestern U.S. state home to 26 casinos, reported $42.5 million in contributions from tribal casinos to support important programs in the second quarter of FY2025.

The contribution is part of an agreement between the state and tribal communities that requires casinos to share part of their revenue. It aims to fund education, emergency services, conservation, and tourism. The largest amount, $21.2 million, went to improve schools. Emergency services like hospitals and trauma care received $10.6 million. Wildlife and tourism programs each got $3 million, while $850,164 was used to educate people about problem gambling and offer support.

Jackie Johnson, Director of ADG, commented:

“With consecutive record quarters of tribal contributions to the Arizona Benefits Fund in FY2025, these achievements highlight the success of our shared commitment. Since FY2004, tribal contributions have exceeded $2.3bn, benefiting the state, its cities, towns, and counties, and underscoring the value of the tribal-state partnership.”

Since 2004, tribal gaming has contributed more than $2.3 billion to Arizona, highlighting the importance of not only just supporting but also creating benefits for schools, hospitals, and vital services.

In some communities, like rural communities, access to critical services often depends on these funds.  This ensures that the benefits of gaming revenue reach every corner of Arizona.
