Gambling in Pennsylvania leads to fines for parents
Two adults, To Yeung and Chunyahn Wang, were found guilty after leaving their six-year-old daughter in a car outside Parx Casino in Pennsylvania for gambling.
The incident took place when the couple left the girl in a Honda CRV for almost 45 minutes while they gambled inside the casino. At that time, the outside temperature was 20°F (-7°C), which created a dangerous situation for the child.
Luckily for the child, the security staff discovered the girl in the car and immediately found the parents, who were inside the casino playing table games. As a result, both Yeung and Wang, 44-year-old parents from Brooklyn, New York, were charged with child endangerment. Their child was not immediately returned to them but was placed in the care of unidentified relatives for safety.
The legal action took place on December 23 at Bucks County Magisterial District Court, where the parents were granted a fine of $3,000 each and released from custody. The further proceedings have raised questions about the legal consequences the couple will face, especially considering the parents live out of state.
The investigation is still in the process. While it’s not immediately clear what the final charges or penalties will be, the case has drawn attention to the serious risks posed by leaving children without attention in potentially dangerous conditions.
