AstroPay debuts payment links in LatAm

Online payment service AstroPay broadens its links capabilities created for small or medium enterprises (SMEs) within the LatAm region.

The payment links allow entrepreneurs to receive online payments through mobile numbers or links shared with clients. Clients can pay in US dollars or local currency. Meanwhile, businesses get paid safer and easier.

The countries, where it debuts, include:

  • Colombia
  • Peru
  • Mexico
  • Chile

The first country where AstroPay introduced payment links was Brazil at the end of 2021. It aims to deliver payment links globally.

Latin America is considered to be an essential market for AstroPay. As reported by the company, the number of small and medium businesses has grown by around eleven percent in the past couple years. 29,200+ SMEs were established within the LatAm region throughout last year.

The chief executive of AstroPay, Mikael Lijtenstein, noted:

“Many owners of small enterprises failed to reach the milestone which is necessary for accepting credit card payments. They needed other options to receive payments. The capability of Payment Links is a rather effective and easy way for it. From now on, the owners of small and medium enterprise owners have the opportunity to get paid in an easier and quicker way”.

According to the payment supplier, in Peru and Mexico small and medium businesses amount to 99 percent of whole enterprises. So, the LatAm market is a rather important market for expansion.
