The Swedish AB Trav och Galopp (ATG) has shared its second-quarter earnings for 2026, revealing that the company suffered a 3% year-on-year loss in revenue, totaling €136.1 million.
The main reason behind the decrease was the weak performance in the horse racing segment, which is ATG’s main business and contributed 72% to the overall revenue for Q2. The segment reported a 7% drop in net gaming revenue, which generated €85 million. At the same time, sports betting revenue also declined, reaching €8.1 million.
The company’s total net gaming revenue came in at €117.9 million, down 4% year-on-year. Net profit fell by a further 11%, generating €31.9 million.
CEO of ATG, Jörgen Forsberg, commented:
“Horse betting remains the hub of our business, and ATG is the engine in financing Swedish horse racing. The first quarter developed overall on a par with the previous year, meaning the decline is mainly attributable to the second quarter. Competition for customers’ time, attention, and disposable income remains high. It comes from both other gaming operators, licensed and unlicensed, and from an ever-increasing range of other digital services and experiences.”
Forsberg is expected to remain as CEO until December 2026, with Svenska Spel’s Anna Romboli set to take up the role.
Lastly, digital platforms generated €109.8 million in quarterly revenue, which was 3% lower compared to 2025, while retail net gaming revenue dropped by 17% to €8.8 million.
