Australia’s ACMA requests blocking of 10 additional gambling websites

The Australian Communications and Media Authority, or the ACMA, has reportedly requested for another 10 online gambling sites to be blocked, which are said to have been illegally running operations in the country.

The websites were told to be the following: Aussie Play, Play Croco, Golden Reels, Bonza Spins, All Spins Win, Golden Pokies, Pokie Spins, PokieZ, Pokie Mate and House of Pokies. They were all said to be working in the country as illegal offshore websites.

Furthermore, the ACMA also noted that it had looked into every single one of these companies as soon as it obtained some complaints from clients, and it ultimately decided that the entirety of these websites were violating rules from the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. Hence, the authority asked Australian internet service providers to block all ten of the sites.

Ever since the ACMA blocked its first site back in 2019, 238 illegal gambling sites have also been blocked in Australia. The authority also mentioned that around 130 illegal services have backed out of the local market ever since it implemented a new set of laws for illegal offshore operators in 2017.

The blocking requests for these 10 sites follows on from the order the ACMA sent out last month to ISPs to block a total of 18 websites that had been operating illegally in the country, which included BitStarz, King Billy Casino, Syndicate Casino and others.
