BC.GAME banned by Swedish gambling regulator
Sweden’s gambling regulator, the Spelinspektionen, has issued a promotional ban against BC.GAME after discovering that the operator was illegally targeting local players.
The regulator conducted an internal probe into BC.GAME’s operations, which revealed that the operator was directly targeting Swedish users without having a local license. As a result, the Spelinspektionen targeted the operator’s parent company, Twocent Technology Limited.
The Spelinspektionen stated:
“To achieve a functioning licensing market, it is important that operators who do not hold the necessary Swedish gambling license do not market themselves to the Swedish market.”
The investigation found that BC.GAME used Swedish affiliate websites and social media content creators to promote its offerings in the country, despite the company currently holding a gambling license from Anjouan while the parent company is registered in Belize. The regulator also shared that it had reached out to the operator to discuss the violations; however, BC.GAME didn’t respond.
Additionally, the operator has faced criticism from other jurisdictions as well, with reports that it stopped operations in Curacao after the jurisdiction’s gambling regulator revoked BC.GAME’s license.
At the same time, Sweden’s gambling authority stated that its efforts of targeting unlicensed operators have helped stabilize the country’s channelization rate, which now stands at 84%.
