Brazil to begin national betting system talks on April 4

The Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) has invited all 26 federal states to a meeting on April 4 to start the creation of a National Betting System in Brazil.
Led by SPA President Regis Dudena, the National Betting System will help individual states uphold new regulations, set responsible gambling standards, and combat illegal activities like money laundering. A major part of this initiative is the creation of a national self-exclusion system, which will allow problem gamblers, sports officials, and minors to be blocked from betting.
Regis Dudena stated:
“The establishment of a National Betting System, as the implementation of cooperative federalism, is considered a priority issue for the SPA/MF, being Project No. 08 of the SPA/MF Regulatory Agenda for the 2025/2026 Biennium. It is necessary to strengthen cooperation between federative entities through coordination between the Federal Government and State Governments, promoting good practices, national minimum standards for Responsible Gambling, technical requirements for systems and games, as well as combating money laundering and ensuring sports integrity.”
To make the initiative successful, the SPA is consulting with banks, operators, media platforms, and healthcare networks to develop a fair and effective self-exclusion program.
At the April 4 meeting, SPA officials will provide updates on recent gambling regulations and discuss how to strengthen oversight. The goal is to create a transparent betting system that benefits both players and the industry while remaining in compliance with the regulations.
