Casino Guru Awards 2025: Welcoming Judges Garvie & Shafaq
Casino Guru, a leading name in online gambling advocacy, is excited to announce the addition of two famous industry professionals, Duncan Garvie, and Monica Shafaq, to the panel of judges for the upcoming Casino Guru Awards 2025.
The third edition of the Casino Guru Awards 2025 honors social responsibility, excellence, and transparency in the iGaming industry. The awards continue to preserve their dedication to fairness and integrity, with Duncan and Monica joining the judging panel.
Duncan Garvie
For more than ten years, Duncan Garvie has been a famous supporter of consumer protection in the gambling industry. Duncan has led efforts to increase player safety and settle conflicts equitably as the creator of ThePOGG, the first affiliate-based complaint service authorized as an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) provider. He founded BetBlocker, a registered charity that provides free resources to assist people in controlling their gambling habits, in 2017. As the current chair of BetBlocker’s Board of Trustees, he still advocates for responsible gaming.
Duncan Garvie, founder and trustee of BetBlocker, said:

Monica Shafaq
Monica Shafaq brings extensive experience from the charity sector, with a strong focus on mental health and gambling addiction. Since January 2024, she’s been the CEO of Gordon Moody, an international charity tackling gambling addiction and raising awareness. Before that, as CEO of the Kaleidoscope Plus Group, Monica led the organization to several achievements, including a spot in The Sunday Times Top 100 Companies to Work For.
Outside her charity work, Monica is a passionate advocate for equality, diversity, and social justice, taking on non-executive roles in football and public health. Her dedication has earned her recognition as one of Europe’s Top 50 most influential Muslims.

By recognizing achievements in areas like fairness, responsible gambling, and social responsibility, the Casino Guru Awards continue to establish high standards in the iGaming industry. The 2025 event introduces two new categories:
1. Players’ Choice: This gives gamers the ability to select their preferred game developer.
2. iGaming Changemaker of the Year: This award recognizes people whose initiatives and leadership have had a major impact on the online gaming industry.
For the first time, the Casino Guru Awards will host an exclusive gala on June 6, 2025, at the Hilton Hotel in St. Julian’s, Malta. Applications are open until February 28, 2025.
