Casino operator Tete-a-tete hit with €341K fine in Lithuania

After unscheduled special inspections, Lithuania’s Gaming Control Authority (GCA) imposed a €341,049 fine on gambling operator Tete-a-tete on December 18, 2025, in connection with violations of anti-money laundering requirements linked to customer due diligence.

Under the law, operators must monitor customer behavior, assess whether betting activity is aligned with known financial information, and verify sources of funds for gambling.

The regulator has found that Tete-a-tete failed to verify the sources of funds of a specific player and requested income documentation covering the 2021-2023 period only after the customer stopped making new deposits. After this, the casino terminated its contract with the player, leading the client to file a complaint with the GCA.

It was determined that the casino didn’t conduct continuous monitoring and relied on insufficient oversight to terminate the contract.

Although the regulatory body didn’t impose the maximum sanction, which could go up to €1.1 million, it stressed the importance of constant monitoring in preventing money laundering and terrorist financing.

The GCA also organizes training sessions for operators to improve compliance and provides individual or general consultations. According to the regulator, the measures are taken to prevent precisely these kinds of compliance failures.
