Evolution ordered to hand over files in Black Cube case
Evolution has been ordered by a judge to provide documentation related to investigations by US gaming regulators in its case against Black Cube.
During the 2021 investigation into Evolution’s business, regulators found no evidence of wrongdoing. Later, in 2025, Evolution revealed that Playtech was behind the false report from 2021. However, on December 2, 2025, a judge ordered Evolution to grant access to the company’s internal probe. The discovery request also urges Evolution to provide documents they had sent to regulators, their communications, and the identities of those who were interviewed.
During the second ruling on December 2, 2025, the judge rejected Evolution’s bid to reveal Black Cube secret agents who approached company executives. Black Cube also objected to the bid, mentioning that this would endanger their agents.
Both rulings followed the release of Black Cube director Avi Yanus’s new affidavit, which was submitted on December 1, 2025.
Yanus wrote:
“The results of this review are unequivocal: Evolution’s games remain accessible and playable from within both Iran and France. Evolution has not disputed that Iran and France are prohibited jurisdictions. The fact that its games remain playable in both places demonstrates again that Black Cube’s report was materially accurate and shows why Black Cube has always believed in the report’s truth.”
To respond to this, Evolution stressed how the ruling judge previously discredited Black Cube’s report and called it objectively baseless.
