FanDuel vs. DraftKings: Ohio August betting revenue

Despite Ohio’s overall revenue decline, FanDuel claimed the crown and surpassed DraftKings in their August competition.

On October 1, the Ohio Casino Control Commission submitted a report stating that players in the state wagered $547.9 million in August. Specifically, online betting saw $539.9 million, and retail sportsbooks saw $13 million.

This number is significantly higher when compared to the last year. Moreover, August’s results are 14.9% more than the results from July.

Taxable revenue in Ohio

When talking about taxable revenue, the market saw a decline and recorded $48.8 million, the lowest number for the year. This is 8.8% lower than July’s $55.3 million. Most of the revenue came from online sports betting, which generated $46.6 million, while retail sportsbooks saw only $2 million. Now, year-to-date taxable revenue in Ohio is $541.5 million.

FanDuel vs. DraftKings

It’s not a surprise that FanDuel and DraftKings are two leaders in the US industry. Both companies continue to compete with each other in terms of their revenues, as they are both players’ favorites.

In Ohio, FanDuel kept its dominance of the market, generating $16.9 million in taxable revenue from a $165.7 million handle with a 10.2% hold. DraftKings comes next with its earnings of $16.7 million from $178.8 million in bets, with a 9.34% hold.

Despite other operators’ presence in the state, including BetMGM and ESPN Bet, FanDuel and DraftKings remain the industry giants with their ongoing competition.
