From August 1, 2026, Google will ban extensions for prediction markets from the Chrome Web Store, prohibiting the facilitation or promotion of real-money event trading on future outcomes.

Under the amended Developer Program Policies, extensions enabling real-money prediction markets will be removed, while products without cash benefits will still be allowed if they clearly communicate that users can’t win real money.

Chrome Web Store shared:

We are expanding our language to explicitly include predictive markets as prohibited products. Extensions that facilitate or enable real money transactions on predictive outcomes are not allowed. Building and maintaining user trust is paramount. By implementing stricter data collection baselines and clarifying boundaries around prediction markets and AI safety, we ensure that the Chrome Web Store remains an honest, useful, and secure platform.”

Back in November 2025, Google Finance started integrating Kalshi and Polymarket data into its stock and finance data interface, showing prediction market odds next to traditional financial information; however, with the new update, users will no longer be able to install browser extensions that can help trade on the markets.

Additionally, Google will require extensions to collect only necessary user data with mandatory disclosure of data practices and any future changes. The amendments are aimed at improving transparency and reducing exposure to legally sensitive sectors.
