The UK gambling industry honors Her Majesty as the entire world is mourning the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Queen Elizabeth II was respected and loved by the British people if not the whole world. The Queen loved sports, especially horse racing and was known as the “greatest supporter”.

Several gambling brands and sporting bodies in the United Kingdom are honoring her by closing betting shops and postponing sporting events. Those companies released their statements in memory of her.

William Hill and Betfred announced that today (September 9th) their betting shops will be closed. They posted about their decision yesterday evening though Twitter.

UK sport bodies such as English Football League, PGA Championships, England and Wales Cricket Board also expressed their deepest condolences and announced about postponing future matches. Earlier today, the Premier League issued an official statement about postponing matches for the next three days.

It is important to note that the British Horse racing Authority was affected by the Queen’s passing as she was the “greatest patron”. The BHA issued a statement about her love for horse racing and her time as the global ambassador of The Jockey Club and the TBA. The Authority also declared that racing is suspended nationwide for today.

To remind you, Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8th. She was the country’s longest-serving monarch who, earlier this year, celebrated her Jubilee, seventy years on the British throne.
