Gentoo Media posts Q1 results with 5% revenue drop
Gentoo Media has posted its Q1 2026 results, revealing that the affiliate company’s quarterly revenue dropped by 5% to €24 million, compared to 2025’s €25.4 million.
EBITDA, on the other hand, increased by 19% year-on-year and reached €10.5 million, making up a 44% margin. Thanks to better profitability and cash conversion, cash flow from operations improved by an additional 61%, comprising €7.4 million.
Employee headcount dropped from 404 to 292. More specifically, as a result of its Atlas SEO site closure in Norwich, the company confirmed that 41 jobs were cut, with 15 of the employees offered new positions, while 2 senior roles were eliminated.
Gentoo Media stated:
“Q1 was a stable start to 2026, supported by a more efficient operating model, smarter resource allocation, and continued focus on profitability. While revenue was impacted by softer sports margins in February, the underlying commercial momentum remained positive, with value of deposits, traffic, and player sign-ups developing well in higher-value segments.”
The number of first-time depositors decreased from 95,100 to 84,100; however, the value of deposits jumped to €201 million, compared to 2025’s €183 million. The company also invested strongly in sports, technology, and AI-driven operational improvements.
CEO Jonas Warrer commented:
“The role of AI in search and user behavior continues to evolve, and we are actively adapting our content, product, and technical approach to ensure Gentoo Media remains visible, relevant, and competitive across both traditional and emerging discovery channels.”
The company is expecting to generate strong results for the rest of the year, highlighting the importance of major sports events like the FIFA World Cup in June 2026.
