GGL, or the German Gambling Authority, is the Joint Gambling Authority of the federal states in Germany, which plays a crucial role in ensuring the gambling industry’s compliance with German laws.
On August 29, 2024, the chair of the GGL, Ronald Benter, met with the head of Bavaria’s State Office for Gambling Addiction (LSG), Konrad Landgraf, to discuss collaboration on combating gambling addiction.
During the meeting, both parties shared their strategies and concerns about each state’s challenges. Specifically, Benter highlighted the importance of these kinds of discussions in helping the GGL gain a comprehensive view of gambling addiction across the country.
Landgraf highlighted the LSG’s role and talked about platforms like buwei.de to reach those who need them. Moreover, there is also preparation going on for the National Day Against Gambling Addiction, which is on September 25, 2024. During the event, the available support for those who are in need will be promoted nationwide.
Benter later plans to visit North Rhine-Westphalia’s State Office for Gambling Addiction in October 2024 to integrate more states in the combating process.
Additionally, a nationwide meeting with representatives from all state offices is scheduled for the fall to share successes and explore new ideas to enhance support for those affected by gambling addiction.
