Hard Rock opens first full resort in Canada
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa officially opened the first fully integrated Hard Rock resort in Canada with a hotel, casino, and concert venue all in one place.
Hard Rock took over the Rideau Carleton Raceway site in 2017 and began building the new resort in 2023. Later, in June 2025, Hard Rock announced its plans to open its first full resort in Canada.
Now, when completed, the resort offers a 150-room hotel, a large gaming floor, and a performance venue.
Christine Crump, President of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa, told Faces Magazine:
“Leaving the Toronto market after 23 years in the industry was a leap of faith. But I wouldn’t change a thing. Ottawa truly feels like home now. Crump, who has overseen the development of seven major gaming projects, called this one her most personal yet, noting the team’s pride in bringing the resort to life.”
The 150,000 square-foot resort has 1,500 slot machines, up to 40 live table games, and a high-limit area. There are more than ten dining options, including the Hard Rock Café and Council Oak Steaks & Seafood.
The new Hard Rock Live venue can seat 1,800 or 2,200 standing. It opens this weekend with performances by David Foster and Katharine McPhee on Thursday, and Avril Lavigne on Saturday. A world title boxing match is also planned later this year.
Through its Hard Rock Heals Foundation, the resort will also support local groups like Make-A-Wish Canada and the Ottawa PWHL team.
