Ireland and UK join forces to combat illegal gambling

The Ireland Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRAI) and the UK Gambling Commission have signed a significant agreement in Dublin.

After GRAI’s launch on March 5, Ireland has strictly monitored the gambling industry. The event that brought GRAI Chief Executive Officer Anne-Marie Caulfield together with Gambling Commission Chief Executive Officer Andrew Rhodes marks the beginning of an improved gambling regulation strategy.

With the two authorities working in close collaboration, they aim to further strengthen their respective mandates to make gambling always safe and fair for everyone. After the official signing, the two leaders had an in-depth discussion on key matters including compliance, oversight systems, and sharing best practices.

This is just the beginning of this partnership since GRAI is eager to have the same type of partnership with other European regulators to create a network to provide consistent standards and improve cross-border gambling regulation.

Earlier, GRAI called for license registration under a new gambling law.
