Kindred Group stops its operations in Poland

A famous gaming company, Kindred Group, has officially announced its departure from Poland.

Running the Unibet in Poland, the company had already stopped its casino, poker, and bingo offerings for the Polish market back in October. However, the company faced scrutiny for running sports betting without a valid license. Graj Legalnie, an organization fighting against offshore gaming, accused Kindred of operating unlawfully and depriving Poland’s State Treasury of millions of zloty in taxes.

Kindred has notified its Unibet Polish customers about the news, assuring them that their accounts would remain open for withdrawals. All existing sports bets were settled by November 25, with unsettled wagers being voided and refunded. Players can withdraw their funds until December 30 after which all accounts will be closed.

Kindred’s updates

The move to exit Poland comes after Kindred’s recent merger agreement with La Française des Jeux (FDJ). Back in January this year, FDJ announced its public offer to Kindred’s shareholders to sell their SDRs to FDJ for a cash price of SEK 130 each, which is in total €2.45 billion.

Within the new terms, Kindred emphasizes operating exclusively in regulated markets. As part of this commitment, Kindred confirmed it would halt all operations in Poland.

Kindred Group announced:

“As part of this commitment, Kindred will stop its international dot-com operations.”

The growing importance of operating within regulated markets aligns with the company’s broader strategy of advancing and growing.
