KSA Threatens Sanctions Over Illegal Gambling Activity

Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the Dutch Gambling Authority, warns Chestoption SRL of fines for operating unlicensed gambling sites in the Netherlands.

The Netherlands Gambling Authority (Kansspelautoriteit, or KSA) has issued a strict warning to Chestoption Sociedad de Responsabilidad Limitada. The authority accuses the company of offering illegal online games to Dutch players through its Vave, Vave Luck, and 65Avev55 brands.

According to the KSA, Chestoption SRL operates in the Dutch market without a required license. The regulator has now issued an order subject to periodic penalty payments: the company faces fines of €280,000 per week, up to a maximum of €840,000, if it does not immediately halt operations targeting players in the Netherlands.

The KSA issued a statement:

“The Netherlands has a regulated gambling market to better protect players. For this reason, the KSA takes tough action against illegal providers. With an order subject to penalty payments, illegal supply can often be terminated quickly. Providers also risk a fine for the period in which the illegal supply was available.”

Upon investigating Chestoption Sociedad de Responsabilidad Limitada, KSA found out that it was possible to create a player account, make deposits, and spend on games or bets. Now, technical measures are taken to block players from the Netherlands.
