A recent IPSOS report reveals that the majority of online gamblers in Ontario are accessing gambling sites legally.

According to an IPSOS report published by iGaming Ontario and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, eighty-six percent of gamers access online gambling through legal means. This amount is seen as a noteworthy accomplishment in Ontario’s efforts to establish a secure and competitive online gambling market.

In April 2022, Ontario started to regulate sports betting and online gaming. iGaming Ontario revealed in its most recent revenue report that its total revenue for the third quarter of 2023–24 was CA$658 million, a forty-four percent rise over the same period the previous year.

With eighty-two percent of bets, the casino category continues to be the biggest in Ontario’s online gambling market. Blackjack makes up over twenty-five percent of all bets, making it the most played online table game.

The most bet-on sport in North America is basketball, and Ontario boasts one of the top five online sports betting marketplaces in terms of total bets. Although peer-to-peer poker is the lowest stakes category, its five operators in Ontario have made it the largest ring-fenced online poker business in North America in terms of gaming revenue.

iGaming Ontario’s chair, Heidi Reinhart, expressed delight in the teamwork of operators, players, staff, government partners, and specialists in responsible gaming to create a top-tier online gambling industry for Ontarians.
