Macau’s June gaming tax up 8.9% to $967M
In June, the Macau SAR government reported gaming tax revenues of MOP$7.78 billion (US$967 million), marking an 8.9% rise from May’s MOP$7.15 billion (US$889 million) and a 29% increase from the same month last year.
These figures are based on Macau’s gross gaming revenue from May, which was previously reported by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau at MOP$20.2 billion (US$2.52 billion).
From January to June 2024, gaming tax revenue totaled MOP$44.8 billion (US$5.57 billion), showing a significant 67.2% growth compared to the same period last year, as per the Financial Services Bureau (DSF).
The Macau SAR government has projected that gaming tax revenue for the fiscal year 2024 will be around MOP$83.6 billion (US$10.4 billion). As of June, the budget execution rate was at 53.6%.
Overall government revenue for the first half of the year was MOP$52.4 billion (US$6.51 billion), which is a 56.4% increase year-on-year. A large portion, 85.5%, of this revenue came from the special gaming tax paid by concessionaires.
